Following is the biography for Robert M. Ferreira who is buried at First Parish Cemetery, York, ME.
Robert was born in Hyannis, MA, the first twin of Ana & John Ferreira of Provincetown, MA.
The second twin was Frank J. and there was an older brother, John.
They were all parts of blended families.. There were three Ferreira girls: Mary, Doris, and Helen; and four Ramos siblings: Sebastian J., Maria B., and Hersila (Cecelia) V.
The Ferreira girls went to live with their maternal aunts, and the Ramos siblings came to live with the Ferreira's.
They lived in Provincetown for eight years when Frank was killed in an accident.
Following this the family moved to the
Boston area. Robert enlisted in the US Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. Following the war, he lived
in Cambridge, MA, and worked at Cambridge City Hospital, where he met Lois E. Phillips of NH.
They were married in Manchester April 3, 1954 and returned to Somerville, MA to live. They lived there for seven years and had two children: David Robert, 11/3/57 & Patricia Jane, 3/8/60.
In 1961, they bought a house on Groveland Ave. in Manchester, where they lived for thirty eight years.
Robert was a clerk in the Federal Civil Service. He liked woodworking and fishing.
They bought land on The Nubble at York Beach, ME and had the shell of a cottage built and he worked finishing the inside on weekends and vacations.
Robert loved his family very much and was very proud of their accomplishments. They, in turn, loved him.
